Hazrat Zamrah bin Amr Juhni(ra)

A Badri Companion of the Holy Prophet(sa)

(Friday Sermon - March 15, 2019 )

Background and Participation in Battles

Hazrat Zamrah(ra) bin Amr Juhni’s(ra) father’s name was Amr bin Adiyy. Some also report his father’s name as Bishr. He was a confederate of the tribe of Banu Tareef. However, according to some, he was a confederate of the tribe of Banu Sa‘idah, which was the tribe of Hazrat Sa‘d(ra) bin Ubadah. Cconfederate means that they had a mutual agreement to help each other, should a need arise. Allamah Ibn Athir writes in Usdul Ghaba, “This is not a contradiction because Banu Tareef was a branch of Banu Sa‘idah.” Hazrat Zamrah(ra) participated in the battles of Badr and Uhud and was martyred during the Battle of Uhud.
