Background and Participation in Battles
Hazrat Aamir(ra) bin Umayyah was the father of Hazrat Hisham bin Aamir(ra). He took part in the Battle of Badr and was martyred in the Battle of Uhud. He belonged to the tribe of Banu Adiyy bin Najjar. (Al-Tabakaat-ul-Qubra Li-ibn Sa‘d, Vol. 3, p. 389, Aamir bin Umaiyyah, Dar-ul-Kutub Al-Ilmiyyah, Beirut, 1990)
Knowledge of the Holy Quran
Hazrat Hisham bin Aamir(ra) relates that the Holy Prophet(sa) was asked about the burial arrangements of those martyred in the Battle of Uhud. The Holy Prophet(sa) instructed to dig a large grave and place two to three bodies in each. The Holy Prophet(sa) also instructed that the person who was more versed in the Holy Quran should be buried first. Hazrat Hisham bin Aamir(ra) relates that his father, Aamir bin Umayyah, was lowered into the grave before the other two. (Sunnan At Tirmidi, Abwaab Fazail Al Jihad, Hadith 1713)
Once, Hazrat Aamir’s(ra) son, Hisham bin Aamir, went to Hazrat Aisha(ra) and she said that he was indeed an excellent individual. His progeny however did not continue further. (Usdul Ghaba Fi Marifati Al-Sahaba, Vol. 3, p. 12, Aamir bin Umaiyyah, Dar-ul-Fikr wa An Nashr wa At Tauzi’, Beirut, 2003)
