Hazrat Abdullah(ra) bin Ka‘b belonged to the Banu Mazin tribe. His father’s name was Ka‘b bin Amr and his mother’s name was Rubaab bint Abdullah. He was the brother of Hazrat Abu Laila(ra) Mazani. The name of one of the sons of Hazrat Abdullah(ra) bin Ka‘b was Harith, born from Zughaibah bint Aus. Hazrat Abdullah(ra) bin Ka‘b participated in the Battle of Badr. The Holy Prophet(sa) appointed him to oversee the spoils of war at the occasion of the Battle of Badr. He had the honour of overseeing the spoils of war on various other occasions as well. Hazrat Abdullah(ra) bin Ka‘b participated in all the battles alongside the Holy Prophet(sa), including the battles of Uhud and Khandaq. Hazrat Abdullah(ra) bin Ka‘b passed away in Medina during the caliphate of Hazrat Uthman(ra) in 33 AH. His funeral prayer was led by Hazrat Uthman(ra). According to some reports, he also bore the title of Abu Yahya in addition to that of Abu Harith.
