Background, Participation in Battles and Martyrdom
Hazrat Abu Khalid Harith bin Qais bin Khalid bin Mukhallad belonged to the Ansar tribe of Banu Zuraiq. He is more commonly known by his title. He pledged initiation at Aqabah and participated alongside the Holy Prophet(sa) in all the battles, including the Battle of Badr. He fought alongside Hazrat Khalid(ra) bin Waleed in the battle of Yamama and was wounded. The wound healed, but during the Khilafat of Hazrat Umar(ra), the wound ruptured as a result of which he passed away. Due to this, he is counted among the martyrs of the battle of Yamama.
