Background
Hazrat Malik(ra) bin Abu Khauli belonged to the tribe of Banu Ijal who were confederates of the Banu Adiyy bin Ka‘b clan of the Quraish. His father’s title was Abu Khauli while his actual name was Amr bin Zuhair. Hazrat Malik’s(ra) name is also recorded as Hilal. Migration to Medina
When Hazrat Umar(ra) migrated from Mecca to Medina, he was also accompanied by Hazrat Malik(ra) and his brother Hazrat Khauli(ra) in addition to the rest of the members of his own family. (Al-Sirat Al-Nabawi Li Ibn Hisham, p. 338, Dar-ul-Kutub Al-Ilmiyyah, 2001)
Participation in Battles
Hazrat Malik(ra) participated in the Battle of Badr alongside his brother Khauli(ra). According to another narration, Hazrat Khauli(ra) participated in the Battle of Badr alongside his two brothers Hazrat Hilal(ra) (i.e., Hazrat Malik) and Hazrat Abdullah(ra). Demise
