Background, Participation in Battles and Martyrdom

Hazrat Salama bin Thabit’s full name is Salama bin Thabit bin Wakhsh. Hazrat Salama participated in the Battle of Badr. During the Battle of Uhud he was martyred by Abu Sufyan. Hazrat Salama’s father was Hazrat Thabit bin Wakhsh and his uncle was Hazrat Rifa‘ah bin Wakhsh. His brother Amr bin Thabit was also martyred during the Battle of Uhud. Many members of his family fought in the Battle of Uhud. His mother’s name was Layla bint Yamaan and was the sister of Hazrat Huzaifah bin Yamaan^(ra).
