Background
The name of Thabit(ra) bin Tha‘labah’s mother was Umme Unais bint Sa‘d, who belonged to the tribe of Banu Uzra. His father, Tha‘labah bin Zaid, was also called al-Jiz‘a. He was given this name due to his courage, strength, determination and passion. Due to this, Hazrat Thabit(ra) was also called al-Jiz‘a. His children were Abdullah and Harith born to Umamah bint Uthman.
Participation in Battles and Martyrdom
Hazrat Thabit(ra) participated in the second pledge of initiation at Aqabah along with seventy Ansari companions. He participated in the battles of Badr, Uhud, Khandaq and was present during Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Similarly, he participated in the battle of Khaybar, the conquest of Mecca and in the Battle of Ta’if. He was martyred during the Battle of Ta’if.
