Background
Hazrat Tha‘labah bin Zaid belonged to the Ansar tribe of Banu Khazraj. He participated in the Battle of Badr. He was the father of Hazrat Thabit bin Al-Jiz. Hazrat Tha‘labah bin Zaid’s title was Al-Jiz. He is called Al-Jiz due to his strong heart, determination and resolve. A tree with a strong trunk is called Jiz, as well as the beam of a roof. Nevertheless, he possessed a strong heart, determination and resolve and as a result of this, he was given the title of Al-Jiz. No narration of Hazrat Tha‘labah bin Zaid has been preserved.
