Belief in the existence of a Divine Creator has, in some shape or other, persisted throughout the history of mankind in the most backward as well as the most cultured and civilized sections. It is unnecessary for our present to enter upon a determination of the question whether such belief is the result of the progressive exercise of human reason alone or has, as taught by Islam, been from the beginning through revelation.
