Continuing with the subject of the Divine quality of ‘Kibr’ (Exaltedness) and correlated ‘Akbar’ (Great) Hazoor delivered his Friday Sermon illustrating the matter as ever with Quranic verses, ahadith and various writings.
Throwing further light on the connotation of the word 'Kabir' Hazoor said that it signified a Being who has superiority over the rest and Who is Greater beyond imagination. Hazoor added that if the Allah the Exalted had a physical presence as such then He would have been limited in that it is possible to be greater and bigger than all physical matter, however, Allah is Incomparably Great.
Hazoor related that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) said that Allah the Exalted had revealed to him to enjoin to adopt humbleness and meekness so much so that none would have a sense of superiority over the other and that in order to guide and educate his companions the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings be on him) own humility was such that he would even attribute aspects of false pride and its consequences to himself, although it is evident from his entire life that he was the embodiment of humility.
Hazoor quoted Imam Razi’s (may Allah have mercy on him) commentary of a specific Quranic verse that gives details of the various means a husband can employ to reprove a disobedient wife and the vital significance of the verse ending in a declaration of the Divine quality of Kibr and said that it is to alert the husbands from potential oppression on wives specifically due to their physical dominance and is a reminder that despite His exalted state Allah only reprehends and exposes man in excessive cases and that husbands should derive lesson from this.
Hazoor further related from the Promised Messiah’s (on whom be peace) writings that the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings be on him) head was bowed in humility in the Presence of Allah the Exalted at the supremely triumphant moment of the fall of Mecca just as it had been bowed in troubled times. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) enjoined to be constantly aware of one’s failings and said that unless one adopts extreme humility one simply cannot win the pleasure of Allah. Hazoor said wealth often promotes arrogance and becomes a severe handicap in gaining righteousness and recounted the hadith that mentions that the well off will enter paradise 5 to 6 years after the poor. Hazoor said the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wrote that although he did not decipher the connotation of the hadith he had full belief in its words. Hazoor stressed on the significance of social welfare and in paying the dues of fellow human beings and said that it was certain way to seek the pleasure of Allah the Exalted.
