There are no ceremonies or rituals for conversion to Islam. Once a person has studied, discussed and has satisfied his heart and mind makes a declaration “I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad^(sa) is his servant and messenger”.  This is a personal declaration alone or in the presence of other people or with other people. The focus is more on internal acceptance of truth and making a commitment to lead one’s life in accordance with the Will of God.

The Prophet Muhammad^(sa) would initiate his followers into Islam in an initiation ceremony called the Bai’at (literally “selling ones’ soul”). This practice was also followed by the Imam Mahdi, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian^(as) and by his Successors.

Today, when people enter into the fold of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community they sign an initiation form which consists of 10 conditions of Bai’at as compiled by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah^(as). By signing these conditions of initiation, one starts a new life in the direction of piety and righteousness and also helps the community to count its number every year.
